As some of you have heard about the Israeli prime minister's visit to the American congress.
In his speech, he just declared himself and the Israeli government views to the world.
"Jerusalem will never be divided"
"will not return to the indefensible borders of 1967."
"The right of return is not to be discussed"
This is a very interesting article on Haaretz, the Israeli main newspaper about Netanyahu's speech

Don't get me started!
ReplyDeleteInteresting how Netanyahu sees the 1967 borders as "indefensible," considering how Israel expanded territory under its control in 1967, and how modern defense technology has rendered most of the "weaknesses" of those 1967 borders moot (e.g., Syria doesn't need the Golan to shell Israel; Israel's Arrow ground-to-air missile is an improvement over the Patriot missiles used in the 1990s; satellite and drone reconnaissance makes anticipating and deterring external threats a lot easier & faster, etc.).
In other words, it's all posturing. And no one calls him out on it.
